Embassy Suites by Hilton Huntsville has completed a two-phase, multimillion-dollar renovation and introduced its updated look at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday. The event came as the property, now 18 years old, faces a growing field of newer competitors in the downtown area.

The hotel is the largest full-service property in downtown Huntsville and also its oldest hotel of any kind. Its operator, Atrium Hospitality, chose to modernize the building as new lodging options continue to rise in the neighborhood. The 295-room hotel is linked to the Von Braun Center by a sky bridge and sits next to Big Spring International Park.

Larry Cooper, vice president of Operational Strategies for the Eastern Region at Atrium Hospitality, said the hotel has served as an award-winning hospitality provider for 18 years and has had a positive effect on the city's economy. "Our beautifully renovated hotel has the highest room count in Huntsville," he said, adding that it can accommodate large groups and conference attendees from the Von Braun Center as well as business and transient travelers.

All 295 two-room guest suites were refreshed from top to bottom, according to Atrium Hospitality. Each now has a 55-inch television, upgraded bedding, a mini-refrigerator, a microwave, a large desk, Wi-Fi and a full-size sofa bed in a separate living area. More of the suites now have walk-in showers with glass doors. The hotel also offers 20 Pure Wellness suites as a premium option, all on a single floor and with views of the city.

Public areas were reworked as well. The project touched the first-floor open-air atrium and added a farm-to-table restaurant called CO/OP Community Table + Bar, with indoor and outdoor seating. The hotel also has new public restrooms and an indoor saltwater pool, along with a new sundry and gift shop that stocks items sourced through employment social enterprises, which aim to empower people through the dignity of work.

The hotel's flexible event space totals 11,500 square feet and includes a new Saturn V meeting room of nearly 700 square feet. Other amenities include a free made-to-order breakfast, a complimentary evening reception with drinks and snacks, a business center, room service, and an on-site lounge and café. A 24-hour fitness center features a Peloton bike.

The renovation also included environmental and energy-saving measures. Bottled water filling stations have been placed throughout the hotel to cut down on plastic and pollution, guest rooms have occupancy sensors, and all lighting has been converted to LED to save energy.

Those interested in booking a stay or scheduling an in-person or virtual tour can call 256-539-7373, visit the hotel's website, or connect with it on Facebook.
